About Rabbie Burns' Bottom Drawers

Rabbie Burns' Bottom Drawers A musical comedy in one act. A riotous musical comedy uncovering the scandalous side of Robert Burns. What happens when Scotland’s national bard’s naughtiest works are dragged out into the open? Set in 1796, just after Burns’ death, his unsuspecting housekeeper stumbles upon a hidden stash of very explicit poetry and lyrics. Naturally the local literary society decides there’s only one thing to do... put on a public reading! You, the audience, become the 18th-century townsfolk, invited to enjoy Burn's shocking and hilarious poetry like 'The Fornicator' alongside some surprisingly beautiful songs like 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose. Performed by Christine Weir and Cameron Robertson and directed by Clare Stopford, this raucous two-hander gleefully mixes period drama with modern musical flair — featuring keyboard and saxophone in defiance of historical accuracy.
