Set in 1796, just after Burns’ death, his unsuspecting housekeeper stumbles upon a hidden stash of very explicit poetry and lyrics. Naturally the local literary society decides there’s only one thing to do... put on a public reading! You, the audience, become the 18th-century townsfolk, invited to enjoy Burn's shocking and hilarious poetry like 'The Fornicator' alongside some surprisingly beautiful songs like 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose. Performed by Christine Weir and Cameron Robertson and directed by Clare Stopford, this raucous two-hander gleefully mixes period drama with modern musical flair — featuring keyboard and saxophone in defiance of historical accuracy.
