About Resonant Void

Directly from Tokyo (Japan): Resonant Void is an experimental solo Butoh performance that moves through shifting states of presence, rupture, and quiet emergence. Using a mosquito net, plastic sheeting, two black skirts, and a portable lighting and projection system, the work creates a delicate terrain where the body meets materials that conceal, resist, and transform. The mosquito net forms a fragile chamber that holds breath and memory; the plastic sheets become boundaries that distort, shimmer, and eventually break; and the black skirts shift between creature, mask, shadow, and weight. Light and projection carve unstable edges, allowing the performer to drift between visibility and disappearance. Sound, gesture, and texture unfold in slow waves, inviting the audience into a contemplative space where identity loosens and meaning forms in the intervals between movements.
