About Kah'Loca

KAH’LOCA is a 20 minutes family friendly outdoor work. Women dressed in bright colours with flamboyant funky headpieces use dance-theatre to challenge the narrative of what it means to be a woman and bring to public attention the scale of violence against women. KAH’LOCA's costumes symbolise a desire for everyone to have their own voice, to speak out, be bold and step up for themselves, empowering the harmed and shaping once mute spaces. A combination of voices, classical guitar song, gritty percussive sounds and protests creates the overall soundscape, overlapping with the breath of the dancers in motion to create a multi-sensory live performance which celebrates female strength and resilience.
