About Iterum Felix - Happy Again

Iterum Felix – Happy Again: Curiosities for the Future is an exhibition by artist Ryan Callanan, presented at Whistleblower Gallery. The show brings together works made from salvaged, reclaimed, and donated objects, reworked through painting and physical modification. Alongside materials sourced more broadly, the gallery has invited famous acquaintances and members of the wider community to contribute personal items, each carrying its own history before being transformed. Drawing on Callanan’s ongoing use of the smiley motif and references to rave culture, these pieces give overlooked objects a new form and presence. Visitors are also invited to contribute an object for possible reinterpretation as part of the exhibition. Through reuse, alteration, and recontextualisation, Iterum Felix – Happy Again reflects on renewal, nostalgia, and how value and meaning can shift when familiar objects are seen differently.
