About Carousel's Pop-Up Poets
Joyful, funny and touching, you've never heard the spoken word quite like this! Returning to The Fringe after ‘popping up’ to unsuspecting audiences in 2024, Carousel’s learning disabled comedians and poets have once again come to laugh in the face of societal preconceptions, and in turn make us all laugh at life in general. Performing are poets Charlie Hatton, Susannah Hall-Hirst and Electric Mutant X plus special guests. Expect surreal whimsey, psychedelic sci-fi word wizardry and poems of love, life and loss. Ending the night on a literal high-note is local Pop-Rock legends Beat Express. "I was awe-inspired by the levels of creativity, imagination, talent and charisma exhibited by all of your poets." (Audience member) The Pop-Up Poets are supported by local learning disability-led arts charity Carousel, a multi award-winning organisation championing learning disabled people's inclusion in the arts.
