About Buddhism For Today and Tomorrow

In the mid-1970s, The Triratna Buddhist Order was emerging as a bold new Buddhist movement. Sangharakshita set out the movement's offering in four lectures given in the Royal Pavilion in 1976- later published as 'Buddhism for Today and Tomorrow'. The lectures set out the breadth and depth of the Buddha’s teaching, while directly applying it to a modern European life and society. 50 years later, the Triratna Order and community– now an international Buddhist movement– stand as legacy to Sangharakshita, who passed away in 2018 aged 93. Throughout the festival we are joined by four senior members of the Triratna Buddhist Order to revisit the theme of the relevance of Buddhism and its role in the world. The Four Gifts: Wednesday 6th May– ‘A Method of Personal Development’, with Mahamati Wednesday 13th May– ‘A Vision of Human Existence’, with Vishvapani Wednesday 20th May– ‘The Nucleus of a New Society’, with Parami Wednesday 27th May- 'A Blueprint for a New World', with Subhuti
